Uhm, hello?! Where did your newborn go, and who is this independent almost-toddler in their place?
You're not alone in feeling like you brought home your snuggly little newborn only yesterday, and now you're planning their first birthday party - when did this happen? It feels like the first year of a baby's life happens in slow-motion and then all at once.
And when it comes to feeling big feelings around the 12-month mark, your baby is not the only one. Seeing how far your baby has come and how much you grew as parents pull at your heartstrings.
But give yourself a well-deserved pat on the back. You survived diaper blow-outs, public feedings, backseat diaper changes, trips to the paediatrician and vaccinations.
You taught your baby how to reach and grasp, roll, sit, eat, crawl, stand and maybe even walk - all of this within a space of 12 months and while being seriously sleep-deprived. You deserve a medal, but because you're a parent, you will settle for a warm cup of coffee.
Looking back, you can probably laugh at all the things you thought would be important only to find that it didn't matter. Because at the end of the day, your baby needs you - and only you - to become the incredible little person they already are.
All the toys, tips and tricks can only support a parent who committed themselves to raising confident, brave and well-rounded kids.
Your baby will build all his future skills on the foundation you laid during the first 12 months of his life. It's an overwhelming thought, but one that keeps challenging you to show up for your kids and do your best.
The MonkiBox team is exceptionally proud of how far you've come and how much you and your baby are yet to achieve. We can't wait to be part of your journey into toddlerhood.
Well done, mama & papa! We hope you get yourself a gift too.
